DCU Mercy Host U10's Basketball Blitz

On Saturday, February 1st, DCU Mercy held their first ever Under 10’s Basketball Blitz.

They hosted the event at St. Pat’s College, Drumcondra and there were six teams involved.  A fantastic day was had by all participants and their parents and a huge thank you goes to everyone who made the day such a success.

DCU Mercy would like to thank all the participants and their families who travelled and spent the day playing and watching games.  They would also like to thank the parents of their own players who provided an array of sandwiches, buns, biscuits, crisps, sweets etc.  Another thank you goes to the parents who helped on the day, serving the tea and coffee and keeping a constant supply of goodies going.

The under 18 team provided all the table officials, Bobby Temple, Stephen Ingle, Maeve Ó’Séaghdha, Sarah Woods and Rachel Brennan helped with the refereeing of the games. To the coaches Meredith and Ashley who did a fantastic job and to the clubs Superleague team who arrived to provide support and encouragement to all the young players.

Audrey - Meteors
Just want to reiterate my thanks on behalf of myself and all the players and parents in Meteors.  The kids had a great time and an unbelievable experience for them.  The hospitality was fab and the organising and refereeing was great.  The guy in green, in particular was amazing with the kids.

Bernard - Malahide
Thanks a mill for the invite to the blitz today, the kids had a ball.

Paddy - Athlone BC
Thank you once again for a fantastic day out and a great learning experience for all involved.  Thanks to all you staff and helpers and of course all the referees.  All of the Athlone parents had nothing but positive comments to say about the whole tournament and the way it was run on the day.  This experience will remain with these kids for a long long time.

Dublin Sonics Basketball Club

Dave Lawrence - Dublin Sonics
I'd like to say thank you to you and your support team for arranging the girl's blitz at the weekend. It truly was well ran event and all of our girls had a great time. Our girls are only together for about a month and some of them only join us last week and it was fantastic to see them bond as well as they did all because of this blitz I hope that this will the start they needed to keep them in basketball for years to come.

If you attended our blitz please let us know below what you thought of the day.

Thanks,

DCU Mercy.
