Player of the month

Making an impact

With the Super League season now well underway and players of each team well and truly getting into their stride, Basketball Ireland have just announced the player and coaches of the month awards for October. This award is given to coaches and players in Division 1 leagues up to Super League, who have made a noticeable impact on their teams

We would like to congratulate DCU Mercy's very own Sarah Fairbanks on receiving the player of the month award for October. Sarah Fairbanks is one of two Americans playing for DCU Mercy this season, Sarah previously played for Saint Joseph's university in Philadelphia, where she was a 1000 point scorer and a two year captain. Sarah was only the second player in SJU history to score more than 1,000 points, grab 600 rebounds and block 100 shots. This capped her career as third all-time in blocked shots (113), 10th in rebounds (636) and 19th in points (1,064).

Sarah is currently a victory scholar for sport changes life and is undergoing a masters in business management in DCU. Congratulations on the award and we wish her more continued success for the remainder of the season.
