A huge thank you.

First of all

A huge thank you to everyone, our coaches who all volunteer, our team managers who organise referees, table officials and much more.  Our sponsors, particularly DCU, the Committee and of course, you the parents whose support is always there and lastly the players for their dedication, commitment and efforts throughout the season.

Thank you to all who made sandwiches etc. at our various events throughout the season and particularly last Sunday at the Fun Day. The 2015-2016 season was another very successful season.

We had 12 players selected for Irish panels or teams and 7 players selected for Dublin teams.
  • Seán Ingle was selected to coach the Dublin under 16 girls team and also the Irish under 17 boys.
  • Mark Ingle who received Basketball Ireland Coach of the Month for October.
  • Our under 18 and under 16 girls won the Dublin Cup.
  • The Super league team were regular season winners and Championship Runner-Up.
  • The under 16 team won the AICC’s (All Ireland Club Championships), both the under 20 and under 18 teams were Runner-up in the National Cup and the Under 18 team won -two pre-season tournaments.

Special Club Awards

Club Persons Of The Year Award

Annette & Mark Ingle presenting club persons of the year award to Paul & Sharon Hennessy

This is our Club Person/Persons of the Year Award. This year the award goes to two people. These two people supported the club in various ways, promoting the academy, doing leaflet drops, taking photos of all the teams and went to support the various teams and games, they even travelled to Cork to see games, they also sponsored our under 15/16(2) teams in the club. A huge thank you to both Sharon and Paul Hennessy for all your effort and contributions to the DCU Mercy basketball club this past season.

DCU Mercy Club Award

This presentation is for one of our young players. This player was unfortunate to need surgery on her knee very early in the season. This has prevented her from participating in the game she loves. However, she was always there at every training session (except when she was in hospital), at games, she was constantly encouraging and supporting her team-mates. She helped the team manager, filling out score sheets, doing the table at some games and she also supported the other teams in the club at games.

Throughout everything she has shown courage and true club and team spirit. We hope she makes a full recovery and can return next season. I am very proud to give this presentation to Isabelle Hennessy.
